I can remember hearing this story when I was growing up. My dad, a pastor referred to the coat as “a coat of great price”. It was the way he had been taught it.

After reading this, fantastic job on the scholarship, I suddenly realized that his “different” way of describing the coat wasn’t out of place, but fits in with what you are saying. Unfortunately dad is gone, so I can’t go back and ask him about this.
