In one of my earliest studies, “The First Gospel,” we explored Genesis 3:15 in depth. We looked at how the Hebrew text gives us the image of the seed of the woman crushing the serpent’s head, while the Greek Septuagint gives us something different: the seed and the serpent watching each other in ongoing hostility.
Today I want to trace that Greek verb through its more than 70 uses in the New Testament. You'll never read faithfulness and divine protection the same way again!
Fascinating. The rest of the Bible is a footnote to Genesis 3:15. I have thought of this in terms of Christ crushing Satan’s head. Your word study adds to this theme.
Wow this was a fascinating read (really appreciated it this morning!). Thank you so much for sharing and keep producing wonderful articles, am following closely!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! This is crucial to understanding. You explain this so much better than me! When I tell people this they say it doesn’t make sense. Hence, I don’t explain nearly as well as you! It makes perfect sense! Especially when you see the trajectory. Brilliant visual of the trajectory.
Tereo has so many dimensions, but the one that's absolutely essential is the understanding that the cross as both decisive victory and ongoing watchfulness. That understanding changes the entire game.
